MINISTRY PUSHES DEVELOPMENT OF NEXT-GENERATION BATTERY
Source:Asia Pulse
The
Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE) has set up a task force
to develop next-generation batteries, the ministry said Tuesday.
The task force is to
put forward new proposals for developing next-generation batteries via
a study on the local battery market and the status of battery technologies.
The task force consists
of experts from industrial, educational and institutional sectors that
specialize in the three main battery businesses: secondary batteries, fuel-cell
batteries and solar batteries.
The ministry previously
divided support for local battery businesses by usage such as automobiles,
household appliances, industrial needs and information technology devices,
but it will now seek a battery field-integrated project to respond to fresh
battery technologies which are becoming complicated hybrids.
The MOCIE will select
new battery-related technology projects for 2003 based on the panel's
research.
