  • NuScale and industry participants will assess new concepts for use in small modular reactor power plants

PORTLAND, Ore. — NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) along with Shell Global Solutions (Shell) and industry participants will develop and assess a concept for an economically optimized Integrated Energy System (IES) for hydrogen production using electricity and process heat from a NuScale VOYGR™ small modular reactor (SMR) power plant. The project entitled, “Development and Demonstration of a Concept for an Economically Optimized IES,” will be completed in two phases. Additional research participants include Idaho National Laboratory, Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS), Fuel Cell Energy, FPoliSolutions, and GSE Solutions.

Johnson Matthey (JM), a global leader in sustainable technologies, and Doosan Enerbility, have signed an agreement to develop hydrogen-fuelled power plants in South Korea. The partnership supports the South Korean Government’s plans to increase the share of clean hydrogen-based power generation from 0% in 2022 to 2.1% by 2030 and 7.1% by 2036.

ATOME Energy (AIM: ATOM), the company focused on green hydrogen and ammonia production globally with projects in both Europe and South America is pleased to announce the expansion of its flagship green ammonia production project in Villeta, Paraguay from 60MW to 120MW. This doubling of capacity will enable the facility to produce up to 100,000 metric tonnes (MT) of green ammonia per year once operational within 30 months from now.
