Fuel Cells Works, Belgian Delegation Discusses Cooperation With SWCC in Producing Hydrogen and Reducing Carbon Emissions

A Belgian-Luxembourg delegation visited The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) here today, to discuss and enhance aspects of cooperation in energy and environment.

The Belgian delegation, currently visiting the Kingdom, was headed by Trade Adviser at the Belgian Embassy in Saudi Arabia Adrien Lacroix with the participation of eight Belgian and Luxembourg companies. During their meeting with SWCC officials, the two sides discussed future cooperation in promising and green technologies such as hydrogen production, carbon emissions reduction, and brine mining.

The delegation was also briefed on the achievements of SWCC and its contributions to the development of the water industry in the world, in addition to its continuous efforts to achieve strategic objectives in reducing costs, raising efficiency, increasing productivity, achieving financial and environmental sustainability, enhancing competitiveness and ensuring the security of water supply.

The delegation’s visit aimed to review opportunities for cooperation in energy and environment, discuss current and future opportunities between the two sides, discuss projects and existing needs, in addition, to be acquainted with the investment opportunities of SWCC and learning about its expertise and human, technical and engineering capabilities.

Moreover, the Belgian delegation was acquainted with the economic trends aimed at enhancing competitiveness and increasing economic returns by investing in the outputs of the desalination industry and its innovative technologies, especially the “zero brine reflux” technology, which extracts minerals and salts such as (sodium chloride, bromine, magnesium, rubidium, and lithium), and emission reduction initiatives through maximizing the use of assets with modern, environmentally friendly technologies, displacing liquid fuels and investing in renewable energy, in addition to using decarbonization techniques in which cooperation is underway with the National Program pf Circular Carbon Economy (CCE).
