With a new call as part of the National Innovation Program for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP 2), the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) is funding the acquisition of waste disposal vehicles and road sweepers with hydrogen fuel cell drives.

Depending on the size of the company, the funding rates are 40 to 60 percent of the additional investment costs. In the case of operators who act in a sovereign task by the public sector, a quota of 90 percent is permitted. Also eligible for hydrogen are adjustments to the maintenance infrastructure specific to hydrogen and the upgrading of existing hydrogen filling stations for refueling the municipal vehicles to be procured.

Applications for funding must be submitted by October 15, 2020.

The call for funding is now available here on the NOW homepage.

Applications can be submitted via the easy-Online portal
