Doosan Fuel Cell is accelerating its project to build a hydrogen charging station using a hydrogen-rechargeable fuel cell (Trigen).

Doosan Fuel Cell announced on the 22nd that it had signed a business agreement with SK Energy, an oil business subsidiary of SK Innovation, on the 21st to demonstrate the production of high-purity hydrogen in connection with hydrogen-rechargeable fuel cells and refinery facilities.

This agreement embodies the business agreement (MOU) signed by Doosan Fuel Cell with SK Energy in August of last year for ‘joint technology development and commercialization using hydrogen-rechargeable fuel cells’.

Under this agreement, Doosan Fuel Cell will be in charge of supplying and installing Trizen, which can produce hydrogen, electricity, and heat at the same time, and maintenance of Trizen, while SK Energy will supply, operate and maintain hydrogen purification facilities, trizen-linked hydrogen Demonstration of refinery facilities, etc.

During the first half of next year, the two companies plan to complete the demonstration of a hydrogen charging facility capable of producing high-purity hydrogen (99.99% or higher) and install a commercial on-site hydrogen charging station (recharged with hydrogen produced on site). One hydrogen filling station can produce about 1 ton of hydrogen per day, which is enough to charge 200 hydrogen cars or 30 hydrogen trucks. Since electric vehicles can be charged with electricity produced by Trigen, it is possible to build complex energy charging stations in the future.

In addition, the two companies plan to cooperate step by step to expand hydrogen filling stations by 2026.

Trigen, developed by Doosan Fuel Cell, is a product that utilizes a 440kW phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC). It has several advantages, such as price-competitive hydrogen supply for on-site hydrogen charging flexible response to demand for hydrogen for mobility convenience in charging electric vehicles. has

The hydrogen high-purification facility developed by SK Energy can convert low-purity hydrogen into 99.99% high-purity hydrogen. Suitable for on-site. In order to charge hydrogen produced by Trigen into a hydrogen vehicle, technology is required to increase the purity of hydrogen to 99.99%.

Lee Seung-joon, head of sales division at Doosan Fuel Cell, said, “Hydrogen rechargeable fuel cells can be used not only for smooth hydrogen supply but also as a distributed power source, so we can expect operational efficiency and profitability.” We will come up with various plans to establish it as a new profitable business.”

Kang Dong-soo, head of SK Energy’s S&P (Solution & Platform) Promotion Team, said, “SK Energy is accelerating its platform conversion to strengthen its eco-friendly energy solution and eco-friendly mobility service business at points of contact with customers such as Netruck House, gas stations, and charging stations.” “Through joint development of high-purity hydrogen technology with Trigen, we aim to reduce power transmission and distribution losses and hydrogen distribution costs, supplying eco-friendly energy optimally to customers, and contributing to the revitalization of the hydrogen economy,” he said.
