  • PowiDian to take part in Europe's alternative power alternatives

PowiDian will deploy a fully autonomous system that will provide green and reliable electricity to the four Norwegian islands of Froan, in association with the consortium consisting of Ballard , Hydrogenics and TronderEnergi , an ecological solution to the continent's dependence on electricity supply

The four islands are connected to the continent by an underwater electricity network that is reaching the end of its life and  whose replacement cost, within five years, would be very high.

The consortium proposed a competitive solution combining renewable energy sources and storage.

The primary sources, solar and wind, will be associated with a hydrogen storage in order to become energetically independent, 100% green energy and at a competitive cost.

These islands are natural reserves for the protection of flora and fauna and  habitat conservation and breeding areas, especially for birds and seals in the region.

These islands have sheltered about 200 inhabitants and two fishing ports. Today the main sources of  income come from summer tourism and fishing activities, including a fish farm .
