According to a report by the “Frankfurter Neue Presse”, the city of Frankfurt is planning to procure around 20 hydrogen buses for lines 30 and 36 after a tender.

Transport Director Klaus Oesterling (SPD) announced a tender for “around 20” hydrogen buses.

It is the city’s second attempt to buy fuel cell buses. The first joint order from the cities of Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, and Mainz for eleven units from ebe Europa as part of the H 2 Bus Rhein-Main project was canceled in mid-January because the vehicles could not be delivered.

No further details on the planned tender are known – neither the target period nor the requirements of Frankfurt’s hydrogen buses. In the meantime, some manufacturers have made offers, including Solaris, Van Hool and Safra. Van Hool’s first hydrogen buses have been in operation in Wuppertal since December.
