Fuel Cells Works, Geesinknorba Presents Hydrogen RCV on Tecma

Geesinknorba is presenting an innovative refuse collection vehicle on TECMA 2022. The vehicle, a hydrogen Geesink RCV, has been developed in close partnership with HYZON Motors to accelerate the transition to an emission free waste management. Hyzon is the first manufacturer that produces fuel cell trucks in serial production to offer an efficient and sustainable vehicle at low cost.

The hydrogen Geesink GPM IV rear loader features the LI-ON Power PRO module that supplies maximum power to the body, lifter and chassis in the most economical way. The LI-ON Power is designed for different applications and can deliver output in seven stages, which results in an energy consumption 20% lower than comparable systems. This means that you can drive more kilometers and collect more bins in one go.

Hydrogen fuel cell trucks are fully electrical vehicles with a range extender. In a fuel cell, a chemical reaction takes place between oxygen and hydrogen. The electrical energy is being generated to power the chassis and body, while the water drips from the exhaust on the ground. When hydrogen is generated from alternative sources like wind, water or solar power, the entire system is completely emission free. The vehicle is available in 350 and 700 bar to meet the customer’s demands.

The battery systems are built up in 10 kWh blocks that are integrated in the battery pack. The available battery packs cover all applications. For short distances, no inclines a minimum consumption of 290 kWh is required. For medium applications 320 kWh. For considerable energy requirements 360 – 400 kWh. Higher values can be achieved, but from 350 kWh a hydrogen drive should be considered, as this can be refilled quickly.

Even though the hydrogen truck is 200 kg heavier than a conventional truck, the pay load is high to achieve maximum efficiency. Plus, the return on investment is attractive as the operating and maintenance costs are very low. The innovative vehicle responds to the current market needs and makes it possible to drive in cities and urban areas without any CO², particles or noise pollution. It is another step in our commitment towards an efficient and more sustainable waste management.

The vehicle already made its presence in the VAK Truck in Action during the IFAT and is now on our stand 8B04 at the Tecma fair in Madrid! You are more than welcome on our booth!
