Gold Hydrogen Limited has announced that they have secured several multi-year land access agreements for the Ramsay Project (PEL 687), including the site of the historic Ramsay Oil Bore 1. The company has plans to twin the well, where natural hydrogen was historically encountered at purities up to 89%.

This marks significant progress for Gold Hydrogen’s Ramsay Project, as these land access agreements offer a variety of potential locations for the first exploration well, along with options for subsequent exploration wells. One significant aspect of this development is the secured land access at the Ramsay Oil Bore 1 site near Minlaton on the Yorke Peninsula, a historic site known for its high-purity natural hydrogen.

The company’s initial exploration well will be located adjacent to this historic well, aligning with Gold Hydrogen’s objective of twinning the original well to explore natural hydrogen occurrences further. More details regarding this are expected in the near future.

Gold Hydrogen has prepared environmental approval documents and submitted drafts to the South Australian Department of Energy and Mines. The company has been actively engaging with the community and stakeholders, receiving positive and supportive feedback for the project. This feedback will be included in the environmental approval documentation, and the formal request for approval will be submitted in the coming weeks.

The company anticipates drilling its first exploration well later in 2023, with the permitting process and other activities aligning with this timeline. The key technical objectives of the Ramsay Project are to progress its natural hydrogen Prospective Resources to Contingent Resources and/or Reserves and mature portions of the granted title PEL 687 to Production Licence areas.

However, Gold Hydrogen acknowledges the geological and potential development risks associated with the Ramsay Project. These risks relate not only to the presence, producibility and potential volumes of hydrogen, but also to the resource’s location within agricultural areas and near National Parks, necessitating significant landholder and community engagement.

Gold Hydrogen remains focused on discovering and developing world-class natural hydrogen gas in South Australia’s potentially extensive natural hydrogen province. The company’s total natural hydrogen permit area, including the Ramsay Project and additional exploration applications held by its wholly-owned subsidiaries, spans approximately 75,332km2.
