Hanp to build fuel cell power plant in South Korea

Hanp recently announcerd that it plans to build an 80 megawatt fuel cell power plant in in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province.

Hnap plans to invest 50 billion won (US$46.59 million) and it plans to complete the fuel cell power plant by June 2019.

It is the first fuel cell power plant in Chungcheong Province and will use LNG as its fuel source.

The plant will be the largest in Korea with 80 MW capacity. The largest fuel cell power plant currently in operation in Korea is the Gyeonggi Green Energy Power Plant which puts out 58.8 MW's of power.

Key Statistics:

  • The plant will be capable of supplying 240,900 households with electricity annually
  • The plant will have an annual C02 reduction of 293,933 tCO2 / year

This project also expects to generate sales of 182 billion won per year for 80 MW fuel cell commercial operation.
