Raven SR & HYZON Motors Announce Memorandum of Understanding

Pinedale, WY – Raven SR, LLC and HYZON Motors, Inc. today announced they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop Clean Mobility Projects that allow customers to lease medium or heavy-duty hydrogen vehicles with a complete package that includes maintenance and renewable hydrogen fuel made from local waste, with the first project to come online in California.

“We are very excited to be able to partner with the most dynamic hydrogen fuel cell vehicle manufacturer to provide this all-inclusive package,” said Matt Murdock, CEO of Raven SR. “We are actively developing a hydrogen production facility in San Jose capable of producing 5,000 kgs/day of 90% renewable hydrogen, using our patented Steam/CO2 Reforming technology. This increased hydrogen supply along with the HYZON fleet will create further opportunities for companies in the Bay Area to go completely green on their transportation through a single lease contract.”

Hyzon Motors Inc is Officially Launched with a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Heavy Vehicle Integration Facility in NY State, USA

Earlier this year, HYZON Motors announced its incorporation in New York to commercialize fuel cell heavy trucks and buses. HYZON will become the first USA-based manufacturer of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems that exceed 100kW and are specifically designed for 15-40 ton commercial vehicles. The New York facility will have the potential to manufacture up to 10,000 units based on demand. HYZON is committed to combining its fleet with locally produced, renewable hydrogen packages wherever possible. Under the Clean Mobility Projects, customers will lease a vehicle, have it maintained and receive all the necessary hydrogen fuel under a single contract.

Gary Robb, Chief Engineer and Vice President of HYZON Fuel Cell Powertrain added, “Raven SR has several unique features that enable clean, low carbon, reliable and cost-effective production of hydrogen suitable for use in fuel cell vehicles, which makes them a solid partner for HYZON and for our Clean Mobility Projects. Raven SR’s system offers clear advantages over the myriad of other waste to energy technologies I have studied. Raven SR’s ability to competitively supply high purity hydrogen fuel to the heavy-duty commercial fuel cell vehicles produced by HYZON Motors will enable the wide-scale commercialization of both technologies. This approach will help eliminate the chicken-and-egg dilemma (needing hydrogen fuel and the vehicles that use it) that has been a barrier up until now.”

Raven SR’s patented Steam/CO2 Reformation process is a non-combustion, non-incineration, low atmospheric, non-catalyst application that converts carbonaceous waste into renewable syngas, hydrogen, or other synthetic fuels. Unlike traditional gasification technologies that rely on an oxidizing agent or catalysts, Raven SR’s systems do neither. A recently completed third-party GHG Emissions study calculated its Carbon Intensity (CI) at negative 37. Because Raven SR’s production units are small, modular, and scalable, units can be sited at waste facilities, eliminating the need to transport feedstock to an off-site location. With the expectation of building many of these units across the country and internationally, fuel vendors can reduce the time, transportation costs, and greenhouse gas emissions associated with typical fuel transportation with a one-stop-shop.

“Raven SR is poised to disrupt the renewable fuel industry, using mixed municipal solid waste to produce clean fuels,” said Matt Murdock, CEO of Raven SR. “Through this project, we can eliminate waste while producing clean fuels and providing zero-emission heavy transportation in cooperation with HYZON Motors.”

George Gu, CEO of HYZON Motors states, “With our new facility and Raven SR, whose renewable hydrogen not only cuts carbon but reduces waste, we are excited to be able to deliver truly clean transportation for people and goods. We see a fantastic future for the hydrogen economy across the country.”

About Raven SR, LLC: Raven SR renewable fuels company transforms biomass, municipal solid waste, bio-solids, industrial waste, sewage waste, medical waste, and natural gas into renewable energy products such as hydrogen, sulfur and nitrogen-free Fischer-Tropsch liquid fuels (diesel, Jet A, mil-spec JP-8), additives and solvents (acetone, butanol, naphtha, etc.) and electricity (via fuel cells or turbines and/or CAT syngas engines).

About HYZON Motors: HYZON Motors is a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle company focused on heavy-duty FCEVs. HYZON Motors is offering the USA built hydrogen-powered trucks and buses to the market with total costs comparable to diesel vehicles, offering vehicles for sale or lease to fleet operators. HYZON makes it easy for fleet operators to choose zero-emission operations, without any financial penalty.
