Hyundai – Ulsan Metropolitan City Sign MOU for Mutual Cooperation to Foster Hydrogen Fuel Cell Industry and Expand Hydrogen Infrastructure

Hyundai Motor Co., Ulsan Metropolitan City, and Ulsan Techno Park announced that they signed a mutual cooperation MOU to foster hydrogen fuel cell industry and expand hydrogen infrastructure at Ulsan Metropolitan City.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of Hyundai Motor, Hyundai Motor Co., Song Cheol-ho, Ulsan Metropolitan City Mayor, and Hyundai Motor Co., Ulsan Technopark Park.

Hyundai Motor Company and Ulsan City promised to continue the various efforts to nurture the hydrogen industry through the agreement.

Hyundai will conduct a demonstration project for a 500 kW class fuel cell system in a 200 -square – meter demonstration facility built at the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Demonstration Center in Ulsan Technopark last month until December 2020.

The Hydrogen Fuel Cell Demonstration Center is able to receive its hydrogen supply from Ulsan Petrochemical Complex through a 3 km long hydrogen-dedicated pipeline.

In 2019, HMC plans to further build a 1MW power generation fuel cell system capable of supplying power to more than 1,000 households, and to carry out pilot projects to improve system performance and safety.

Ulsan city plans to supply 500 hydrogen electric fuel cell cars next year and plans to supply 4,000 hydrogen electric cars and build 12 hydrogen filling stations by 2020.
