- It is the first hydrogen vehicle in use for an Italian police force

Bolzano -- In an Italian Police force first, the Trentino-Alto Adige Carabinieri Legion Carabinieri police today took delivery of a hydrogen-powered Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell car.
The car was awarded to the Trentino-Alto Adige Carabinieri Legion Commander for use until August 31, 2018. At the hand-off ceremony and in attendance were the President of A22 Andrea Girardi, Managing Director Walter Pardatscher, General Technical Manager Carlo Costa and Commander of the Carabinieri Trentino Alto Adige Legion, Brigadier General Massimo Mennitti.
Walter Pardatscher, handing over the vehicle keys, said: " The Brenner Highway has always maintained close ties with the Order's forces located in the area, with the aim of ensuring maximum safety on the motorway and in the neighboring areas.
General Technical Director Carlo Costa reminded everyone that: " There are numerous and tangible examples of the Brenner Motorway's commitment to support environmental-friendly actions, such as the presence in its own fleet of multiple vehicles fueled by hydrogen and electricity as well as the creation of the first Hydrogen Generation Center for Renewable Energy in Italy, inaugurated on June 5, 2014, which hosts us today. "
General Massimo Mennitti, commander of the Legione Carabinieri Trentino Alto Adige said, "It is the first time in Italy that a police force has received a hydrogen vehicle," he continued, "This is one of the first trials in the world, and we are truly proud that the Carabinieri police force is the first to reach this new frontier of security combined with sustainability".
CEO Walter Pardatscher said, "The Brenner motorway has always worked closely with the forces of law and order in order to guarantee maximum security".
The Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell is equipped with a power of up to 136 kW (100 Kw) and with a range of almost 600 km.
