Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Royal Dutch Shell will partner to develop technologies to ship hydrogen by sea.

Previous to this Kawasaki Heavy Industries has dealt with Iwatani and J-Power to develop hydrogen shipping concepts. This partnership will continue as they branch out to work with Shell.

Shell plans to use the hydrogen produced using brown coal in Australia to ship it via these hydrogen carriers by 2020.
