Kawasaki High Pressure Hydrogen Reducing Valve for Fuel Cell Cars Accepting Award

“High pressure hydrogen pressure reducing valve for fuel cell vehicles” developed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries received the mobility related parts award at the 2018 manufacturing award ceremony organized by the Monozukuri Japan Conference / Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun Company.

The MONOZUKURI parts grand prize contributes to the development of industry and society in order to support improvement of competitiveness of manufacturing in Japan among products developed and commercialized in that year.

“High-pressure hydrogen pressure reducing valve for fuel cell vehicle” is used to reduce the pressure of about 700 atmospheric pressure high-pressure hydrogen gas supplied from a hydrogen tank installed in a fuel cell vehicle to near the pressure that can be used in the fuel cell stack.

It is a valve based on the fluid control technology Kawasaki has cultivated over many years in developing and manufacturing hydraulic equipment, Kawasaki aims to stabilize the pressure of hydrogen gas at the time of efficient decompression and power generation by highly accurate gas control technology, It achieves high reliability and space saving by extending the distance and clearing the durability test equivalent to 20 years.

This “high pressure hydrogen pressure reducing valve for fuel cell vehicles” was developed jointly with New Celsis Corporation, a subsidiary of Daimler, and will be installed in Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz “GLC F-CELL”.

Kawaski spokesman said “We will continue to contribute to the realization of a low-carbon society by working on product development aimed at expanding the use of hydrogen utilizing high technology capabilities”
