Legrand North America Flips Switch on new Bloom Fuel Cell

Legrand North America flipped the switch on a new Bloom Energy 500kW, solid-oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system yesterday. With many invited guests and journalist in attendance President of Legrand NA flipped the switch on the new fuel cell plant.

The ceremony and event also included a tour of Legrand’s Experience Centre and the factory, led by:

  • John Selldorff, CEO
  • Susan Rochford, VP of Energy Efficiency, Sustainability & Public Policy
  • Ravi Ramanathan, president of Electrical Wiring Systems
  • Mike Kijak, Legrand/Wiremold plant manager

The Bloom Energy SOFC sits adjacent to the company’s corporate offices and Wiremold manufacturing facility and Legrand executives said that the solid-oxide fuel cell system would supply approcimately 88% of the power for the 263,000-square-foot facility and that the installation took approximately 20 days to complete.

Legrand's West Hartford facility has about 600 employees and serves as its corporate headquarters.
