Fuel Cells Works, Linda Simon Joins Sunfire as Director Strategy

The hydrogen market is developing rapidly. To strengthen its position as one of the leading electrolysis companies, Sunfire welcomes Linda Simon as its new Director Strategy.

Always keeping an eye on the latest trends and developments: Linda Simon has been responsible for all strategic topics at the electrolysis company Sunfire since June 1st. In her new position as Director Strategy, Linda will drive the company’s strategic alignment to optimally prepare it for its rapid scaling phase.

Sunfire is known for its unique electrolysis product portfolio and execution experience in industrial projects on multi-megawatt scale. With its solutions, the company helps industries to become independent of fossil fuels and save CO2 emissions in the long term. To meet the increasing demand for renewable hydrogen, Sunfire will massively scale up its production capacities for pressurized alkaline and high-temperature electrolyzers.

The ambitious goals have been defined in Sunfire’s corporate strategy. The new Director Strategy’s task is to align all departments with the overarching corporate goal and to have an overview of all strategic projects. A challenging task in a dynamic and fast-growing company like Sunfire – but Linda Simon’s strategy expertise makes her the perfect fit for the new position.

From management consulting to the hydrogen industry

Prior to joining Sunfire, Linda spent six years supporting various clients across industries at the management consultancy Roland Berger. Most recently, she worked as a Senior Project Manager. With a focus on business development, restructuring and digitalization, she brings the optimal mix of strategic know-how and future-oriented mindset.

Hydrogen and the energy industry are certainly two topics that have always interested the German Rhineland native. “Keeping an eye on the hydrogen champions, it is impossible to not come across Sunfire,” Linda explains when asked how she became aware of the company. “I was immediately interested when I heard about the new position. To join a company like Sunfire in its growth phase to become a leading industry player is an exciting and challenging task – especially with such a dynamic and motivated team.”

The switch from consulting to in-house was the next logical career step for Linda: “Consulting is extremely versatile and rewarding. After six years, I wanted to be responsible for the concepts I developed every day and put them into practice. That was one of the motivations to move directly into industry.” Cleantech and hydrogen are in fact familiar topics for the new Director Strategy. At the Technical University of Munich, Linda completed a master’s degree in Business Administration and Electrical Engineering with excellent grades. The focus of her thesis: hydrogen.

New hometown Dresden

For Sunfire, Linda moved from Munich to the Saxon capital Dresden – where the company is headquartered. “It was important to me to get to know my new colleagues and topics right from the beginning. My heart already beats for this wonderful city.” Whether it is running or spinning, Linda finds a balance from days at the office especially in sports. “I used to enjoy playing volleyball and basketball, and even boxing. In recent years, I haven’t had the time to do that, but maybe there will be an opportunity again in Dresden.”
