Fuel Cells Works, MoU Signed for Producing Green Hydrogen

KATHMANDU: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and an international organization have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) Tuesday for manufacturing chemical fertilizer in the country.

NEA and Global Green Growth Institute, Korea – an entity working in the sector of green hydrogen across the globe — signed a MoU to this effect.

In the presence of Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal, NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising and Institute’s Director General Frank Rijsbeman signed the MoU amidst a program.

With this, the two institutions would carry out feasibility study on the production of hydrogen and ammonia through green energy and establishment of factory for the production of urea fertilizers.

On the occasion, Minister Bhusal said manufacturing of hydrogen would be a new area and technology to consume energy produced from country’s hydropower projects for domestic purpose.

She also urged both the institutions to honestly implement the provisions in the MoU.
