On Thursday, November 26, 2020, students from the Alfa College in Hoogeveen started building a mobile tiny house on green hydrogen, fully built with sustainable and circular materials.
This project is a joint initiative of the municipality of Hoogeveen, Alfa College and Friends of Technology Hoogeveen, and is part of the Region Deal South and East Drenthe.
About the Project
- Green hydrogen, the engine for future-proof living.
From the Region Deal South and East Drenthe, the municipality of Hoogeveen, in collaboration with Alfa College and Friends of Technology Hoogeveen, is building the realization of the Hydrogen Tiny House. The Hydrogen Tiny House contributes to the national task of the energy transition and creates support for the application of green hydrogen by showing that hydrogen in the built environment is a fully-fledged alternative in the energy transition.
In the Hydrogen Tiny House, students can gain theoretical knowledge about the application of green hydrogen as an energy supply for (existing) homes. They can then also apply that knowledge, creating a hybrid learning environment. At the Hydrogen Tiny House, a contemporary teaching package is being developed for all levels of education, with the aim of getting young people interested in technology.
When the Hydrogen Tiny House is ready, the ‘Living on Hydrogen Tour’ starts. The Tiny House will then travel to six locations in the region to demonstrate how hydrogen works as a fuel in homes. Teaching packages are being developed that are also available online.
The Hydrogen Tiny House is a joint initiative of the municipality of Hoogeveen, Alfa College and Friends of Techniek Hoogeveen, and is financed from the Region Deal South and East Drenthe. Within the Region Deal South and East Drenthe, various parties work together to improve prosperity in the region. The business community also uses expertise and network to realize the Tiny House, including the partners Bork, H2Planet, Ten Kate Installatietechniek, Antea Group, Atelier Dutch, the Knowledge Lab for Urbanism and the New Energy Coalition.
