NPROXX awarded with AC%C2%B2 Innovation Prize Region Aachen 2020 for Carbon Fiber Hydrogen Storage

Aachen — On Tuesday evening, NPROXX Jülich GmbH was awarded the “AC² Innovation Prize Region Aachen 2020” for the development of high-pressure storage tanks made of carbon fibers for gaseous hydrogen storage.

Their innovative technology stands out clearly from conventional products through weight advantages and product quality. These storage systems are therefore ideally suited for vehicle construction and as a transport solution for future mobility. NPROXX sees itself as part of the highly innovative technology region of Aachen and is currently working on expanding its production capacities.

In his role as this year’s jury chairman, the new district administrator of the Euskirchen district, Markus Ramers, presented the NPROXX managing director Dr. Rainer in front of the ash tree the innovation award sculpture.

In his laudation, Ramers paid tribute to the winner: “In market analyzes, hydrogen was named as one of the most important energy sources of the future. In order to convert to a sustainable energy, traffic and transport system, there will be no getting around hydrogen. NPROXX understood this. The region is facing a profound change in the course of the energy transition and the withdrawal from coal production. The company would like to help shape this change in a positive way in terms of innovation and climate protection. I wish NPROXX every success! ”

District Administrator Wolfgang Spelthahn, District of Düren, and Mayor Axel Fuchs, City of Jülich, also spoke as well-wishers. The AC² award ceremony was under the patronage of Thomas Rachel, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, who addressed the participants in the online event.

The innovation award winner was selected by a top-class jury consisting of representatives of successful and innovative companies from the region, renowned experts on the subject of innovation from science and research, and alternating representatives from the top management.

Four other candidates were proposed for the AC² innovation award this year, including Caritas Betriebs- und Werkstätten GmbH (CBW) from Eschweiler and EuLog Service gGmbH from Euskirchen-Kuchenheim with social innovations as well as the two Aachen companies oculavis GmbH with a software and process innovation and umlaut telehealthcare GmbH with a product innovation.

The AC² Innovation Prize Region Aachen is awarded by the City of Aachen, the City Region Aachen and the districts of Düren, Euskirchen and Heinsberg. The entire process is coordinated by AGIT.
