FRANKFURT–The new German coalition government’s climate change policy is raising hopes for new business opportunities among Japanese firms working to develop hydrogen-related technologies in the country.
The National Assembly Budget Office recommended more aggressive tax incentive – up to 40 percent deduction – in corporate investments in green hydrogen economy, and the government is currently studying the option.
Hydrogen has both enormous potential but also an uncertain future. As we noted earlier this year, even though the sector is in its infancy, the global pipeline of more than 200 large-scale hydrogen projects is worth more than $300 billion – equivalent to three fifths of 2019 upstream spending. However, the debate on hydrogen’s potential differs in each region of the world – reflecting the different decarbonisation challenges and economic development opportunities they face.
Expanding zero carbon emissions to BVLOS flight operations within national airspace

INDIANAPOLIS — Calumet Specialty Products Partners, L.P. (NASDAQ: CLMT, “Calumet”) announced today that Montana Renewables LLC (“MRL”) has closed the previously announced $50 million of project financing from Stonebriar Commercial Finance LLC (“Stonebriar”) related to construction of the renewable hydrogen plant for Calumet’s renewable diesel business in Great Falls, Montana. Once complete, the renewable hydrogen plant will allow increased production of renewable diesel and further reduce the carbon intensity of products from MRL. The renewable hydrogen plant has an expected operational startup in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The first phase of the project studied the feasibility of creating a market for the production of green hydrogen from offshore wind energy and concluded that economic viability will be achieved once the green hydrogen industry and value chain reach a stage of maturity. Project BEHYOND was headed by EDP, as part of a consortium comprising TechnipFMC, CEiiA, WavEC, and Norwegian University USN.

The centre of excellence TechForH2 has been awarded a grant from the Swedish Energy Agency for the time period 2022-2026. TechForH2 is led by Chalmers University of Technology and will be a collaboration with partners such as RISE, Siemens Energy, PowerCell Sweden, Scania, Volvo GTT, GKN Aerospace, Oxeon, Stena Teknik, Johnson Matthew and Insplorion. The total budget is ca. 162 MSEK over the first five-year period.
