ACWA Power Signs Agreement to Develop Green Hydrogen Project in Egypt Worth More Than $4 Billion

New Capital – Cairo – Egypt– Saudi-listed ACWA Power, the world’s largest private water desalination company, leader in energy transition and first mover into green hydrogen, has signed the framework agreement, following the MoU that was signed in 7th of December 2022 to outline the development of the first phase of the green hydrogen project in Egypt with a capacity of 600,000 tonnes-per-year of green ammonia, with an investment in excess of USD 4bn, with the intention of scaling up to a second phase with a potential capacity of 2 million tonnes-per-year.

Fuel Cell Trucks: Daimler Truck Builds Customer-Oriented Test Fleet of Mercedes-Benz GENH2 Trucks

  • The companies Amazon, Air Products, Holcim, INEOS and Wiedmann & Winz are expected to gain initial experience with fuel cell vehicles from mid-2024.
  • The five articulated trucks will be used in Germany on specific routes and in various applications in long-distance transport.
  • The vehicles are refuelled at designated public liquid hydrogen filling stations (sLH2) in Wörth am Rhein and in the Duisburg area.
  • Andreas Gorbach, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck AG, responsible for Truck Technology: “With this first customer fleet, we are now also testing our fuel cell truck in real customer operation. It’s a win-win situation for both sides: our customers get to know the fuel cell drive in daily use, and our development team gains further valuable insights into customer needs and relevant use cases and can take them into account for series development.”

Equinor and Germany’s Sefe Enter Long-Term Gas Sales Agreements and Pursue Large Scale Hydrogen Supplies

Under the agreements Equinor will supply Germany’s state-owned energy company SEFE (Securing Energy for Europe) with 111 terrawatt hours (ca 10 billion cubic meters – bcm) of natural gas per year from 1 January 2024 until 2034, plus an option for another 5 years, at terms reflecting market prices.
