Successful Start of the Hydrogen Regions in Germany (HyLand) – 138 Municipalities Aspire to be HyStarters

  • The HyLand concept supports municipalities on their path towards the hydrogen economy, either as HyStarters, HyExperts or HyPerformers, depending on the level of knowledge.
  • 138 municipalities have expressed an interest in becoming HyStarters and in being supported in the development of a regional concept and a local participatory landscape.
  • Up to 9 HyStarters will be selected. The selection process will commence in May 2019.
  • Financing for the regional funding scheme is provided by the National Innovation Programme Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Department of Energy announced up to $51.5 million for new and innovative research of technologies for trucks, off-road vehicles, and the fuels that power them.  Funded through the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), this FOA addresses priorities in gaseous fuels research, including natural gas, biopower, and hydrogen; heavy-duty freight electrification; hydrogen infrastructure and fuel cell technologies for heavy-duty applications; and energy efficient off-road vehicles.

Another milestone for the hydrogen fuel cells: the CleverShuttle Ride Service announces that its 45 Toyota Mirai’s (fuel consumption hydrogen 0.76 kg / 100 km, combined power consumption 0 kWh / 100 km; Emissions combined 0 g / km) have combined for one million kilometers without emissions within 15 months and transported more than 170,000 passengers.

WATERLOO, Ontario — The Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC) has announced important funding for an innovative collaboration between industry, university and government to develop new ground-breaking hydrogen fuel cell technology. “This funding will integrate and develop zero-emission Hydrogen Fuel Cell technologies, advancing low and zero carbon solutions for urban mobility, one of CUTRIC’s key pillars,” says Josipa Petrunic, CUTRIC’s Executive Director and CEO.
