Ørsted and Yara Seek to Develop Groundbreaking Green Hydrogen Project in the Netherlands

Ørsted, the world’s leading offshore wind developer, and Yara, the world’s leading fertilizer company, have joined forces in developing a pioneering project aiming at replacing fossil hydrogen with renewable hydrogen in the production of ammonia with the potential to abate more than 100,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, equivalent to taking 50,000 conventional cars off the road.

Fuel cells are not a new technology.  Invented in the late 1800’s, fuel cells made a significant mark in the 1950’s and 60’s onboard early space missions, and over the last decade, proving to be a reliable, efficient, and extremely effective means to generate clean power to a wide range of customers, including those in logistics, on-road, and stationary power markets.

Each month the California Fuel Cell Partnership publishes the latest statistics on how many fuel cell cars have been sold and leased, how many fuel cell buses are on the road, and how many hydrogen stations are open in California. It also lists the Number of total Japan FCEV sales and FCEB data from Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI).

This month there were 98 more cars sold since August 1st 2020.
