PowerCell has decided to open a sales office in China to better meet the strong increase in fuel cell technology in the Chinese market.

PowerCell has already sales offices in Japan, South Korea and South Africa and a German subsidiary. PowerCell has initiated the process to find suitable location and recruit personnel for its sales office in China.

China is a highly interesting market for PowerCell both due to its size and the Chinese Government’s measures to support an increased use of fuel cells and hydrogen.

“China is a forerunner when it comes to fuel cells and hydrogen”, Per Wassén, CEO of PowerCell said. “The Chinese Government view fuel cells as a promising alternative to reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide and particles and we expect demand for the fuel cell technology to increase in China over the coming years.”

About PowerCell Sweden AB (publ)

PowerCell Sweden AB (publ) develops and produces fuel cell stacks and systems for stationary and mobile applications with a world class energy density. The fuel cells are powered by hydrogen, pure or reformed, and produce electricity and heat with no emissions other than water. As the stacks and systems are compact, modular and scalable, they are easily adjusted to any customer need.

PowerCell was founded in 2008 as an industrial spinout from the Volvo Group. The share (PCELL) is since 2014 subject to trade at Nasdaq First North Stockholm. G&W Fondkommission is Certified Adviser, e-mail: [email protected], phone: +46 8 503 000 50.

PowerCell participates at the international fuel cell fair CHFCE in Beijing, China

PowerCell Sweden will participate at the international fuel cell and hydrogen fair, CHFCE, taking place in Beijing, China between May 6-7.

This is the fourth time the China International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Conference & Exhibition is being arranged. China is a highly interesting market for PowerCell given the Chinese Government’s recent decision to shift-over subsidies from battery vehicles to vehicles electrified using fuel cells and hydrogen. The shift in policy has led to an increased interest for PowerCell’s technology from Chinese customers.

At the fair PowerCell will present its fuel cell stack PowerCell S2 which has met a large interest from Chinese customers. The Chinese vehicle integrator China Fuel Cell Energy Company, CFC, recently placed a follow-on order for a PowerCell S2 for installation in buses for field tests in Northern China. CFC had previously tested the PowerCell S2 with very good results.

Versatile fuel cell stack

PowerCell S2 is a versatile fuel cell stack designed for vehicle applications and with an effect of 1-35 kW. The stack can easily be configurated for series connection for higher outputs. S2 can run on reformed hydrogen, i.e., hydrogen made through reformation of other fuels, and has high resilience to elevated levels of contamination in hydrogen, which is important to Chinese customers as a large proportion of the hydrogen in China is being produced from industrial by-products hydrogen.

The PowerCell S2 is made of stainless steel and can withstand vibrations and diverse temperatures much better than stacks with plates made of graphite, which is the competing technology. This is also of great value to Chinese customers as the climate varies much between different parts of China.
