Proton Motor has installed a hydrogen fuel cell as an energy source at a Deutsche Bahn railway station control center.

In the event of a power failure the fuel cell will provide reliable emergency power for the control centers and railway stations.

With regards to the environment, the fuel cell inherently has an overwhelming advantage over the conventional diesle generator as water and water vapor are the only emissions produced from the fuel cell. In contrast to carbon dioxide and various nitrogen oxides emitted from a diesel generator.

The Proton Motor system offers extremely high reliability ans is therefore ideally suited for integration into critical infrastructure. The Proton Motor system also offers very high energy efficiency and is virtually maintance free and it can also be monitred remotely and digitally and thus further reducing the cost and effort required for the service and maintance. The system requires only yearly checks.

The system is presently being tested and once all test results are known it is assumend that this fuel cell system will be used throughout the Deutsche Bahn system.
