On Tuesday, May 27th Romania’s minister Marcel Bolos proposed using hydrogen as an alternative energy source to heat some rural areas of Romania.

According to the local paper Adevarul,  the minister said, “When we talk about hydrogen as an alternative source of energy, everyone is at the beginning of the road and wonders where things will go and how they will evolve, especially the research activity so that the results in this field can be used in research in the field of hydrogen as an alternative energy source is particularly important.”

“Together with the general director of the National Institute for Cryogenic and Isotopic Technologies, Mihai Varlam, with whom we initiated two actions, so as to modify the Competitiveness Operational Program and to develop the first applied project in the field of hydrogen. I named this project “Technological solution for supplying thermal energy to rural communities based on hydrogen”.

“Just yesterday (Monday, May 25, 2020) We had a videoconference with the general manager and his team and we really want this project to take shape and see what are the first results of the research “.

According to Minister Bolos, the financing of the project dedicated to hydrogen research could be achieved through the Sustainable Development Operational Program.
