sfc energy and fc tecnrgy secure significant contract for stationary fuel cell generators from indian defence ministry

Brunnthal/Munich-– SFC Energy AG, a leading supplier of hydrogen and methanol fuel cells for stationary and mobile hybrid power supply solutions, together with its strategic partner FC TecNrgy Pvt ltd (“FCT”) received a major order from the Indian Defense Forces to supply 900 stationary methanol fuel cell generators.

The order includes the delivery of the systems over a period of one year and their maintenance and repair over a period of five years. The initial order volume amounts to more than EUR 17.5 million. The fuel cell solutions will be supplied by the Indian SFC subsidiary SFC Energy India Ltd. and FCT assembled at the new manufacturing facility in Gurgaon, Haryana (India). This order follows the major order announced on March 6 by the Indian Defense Forces for the delivery of 450 portable methanol fuel cell systems with a volume of more than EUR 16 million.

The stationary fuel cell solutions produce clean electricity and can be used by infantry and special units to charge multiple batteries in parallel and to power sensors, surveillance and communication systems as well as for basic electrification. They are often used in remote areas, at high altitudes and under extreme climatic conditions. The versatile energy solutions from SFC Energy are very reliable, easy to transport and are characterized by economical use of methanol as a fuel.

The Indian government is increasingly looking to replace polluting energy systems such as diesel generators with sustainable energy solutions to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. The order for the stationary fuel cell generators is part of the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative.

Dr Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Energy AG: “The second major order from the Indian defense forces within a short time after the founding of our Indian subsidiary underlines our confidence in the enormous business potential in this market. In addition, the order is a strong signal from the Indian government to reduce CO2 emissions and contributes to the announced policy measures to promote clean energy solutions, including fuel cells. The efficient and low-emission fuel cell solutions are manufactured as part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative. To this end, SFC Energy contributes its decades of expertise in fuel cell technology and the experience of over 60,000 fuel cells sold worldwide to support the Indian government in its ambitious climate protection goals, among other things within the framework of the ‘National Green Hydrogen Mission’. Together with our strategic partner FCT, we are working on the vision of a climate-neutral society and this order also contributes to an ecological, sustainable energy transition.”

“The fuel cell generators jointly developed by FC TecNrgy Pvt and SFC Energy are extremely robust and ideally suited for use by the Indian Defense Forces. Even under the most difficult environmental and climatic conditions, they supply electricity independently and reliably. We are very pleased about the second major order from the Indian Defense Forces and look forward to producing the state-of-the-art fuel cells for self-sufficiency in India together with SFC Energy as part of the ‘Make-in-India’ initiative,” says Colonel (retd.) Karandeep Singh, Managing Partner of FCT.
