Fuel Cells Works, Shanghai Port to Begin Test of the World's First Hydrogen Fuel Cell Mobile Crane

Recently, the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell mobile crane that independently developed by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd was put into trial operation.

This is the first successful application of hydrogen fuel cell hybrid power system to the mobile crane, filling the gap in the application of hydrogen energy battery in port machinery industry, realizing net-zero emissions of CO2 of the equipment and contributing to build green port machinery equipment.

In the past, the fuel cell had hardly applied to the port machinery. Now, in order to respond to the demand for energy saving and emission reduction of domestic and foreign ports, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd continuously increases their input of research and development of green and energy-saving products, based on the market expansion trend of fuel cell vehicles, develops fuel cell application system applicable for port machinery equipment.

The equipment provides electricity for the whole machine by hydrogenation, and only discharges purified water during the whole process. Compared with the traditional mobile crane with high-power diesel generators, the annual average carbon dioxide emission of this equipment can be reduced by more than 300 tons based on the annual average of 120,000 TEU, which not only realizes the actual demand of energy saving and emission reduction, but also provides an important strategic significance for the whole industry.
