Milan, (askanews) – Snam and Pipechina (China Oil and Gas Piping Network Corporation), the newly-established Chinese energy infrastructure company, have signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding.

The memorandum provides that Snam, which has been active in China for about two years, will be able to provide PipeChina with technical support for the construction, management and maintenance of natural gas transportation, regasification and storage infrastructures.

Furthermore, Snam and PipeChina will be able to carry out joint research and development activities in the energy transition in China as well as experiments in the hydrogen sector, leveraging the leadership of Snam, among the first infrastructure companies in the world to introduce hydrogen at 10% by volume into the natural gas transport network.

Finally, the two companies will evaluate possible joint investments in China, where Snam will be the privileged partner of PipeChina, and at a global level.

The one with Snam is the first international industrial agreement signed by PipeChina. The agreement was signed by the CEO of Snam, Marco Alverà, and the chairman of PipeChina Zhang Wei, in the context of the meeting held in Rome between the Italian foreign ministers, Luigi Di Maio, and Chinese, Wang Yi.
