Fuel Cells Works,Lhyfe : H1 2022 Highlights and Key Figures - Confirmation of Goal to Become an Independent European Leader in Green Hydrogen Production

Highlights:

  • The collaboration will also delve into implementing solar thermal technologies that will help in transforming the existing coal fire plants into green power plants in the country.
  • Steinbeis is also in discussion with Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) to support in establishing R&D, commercialisation, skill building and training centre for green hydrogen in India.

Hyderabad-based Steinbeis Centre for Technology Transfer India has said that it has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Waaree Energies and DSE Consortium Germany, under which, the three entities will collaborate to establish an assembly line for the production of electrolysers and polysilicon in India.

The collaboration will also delve into implementing solar thermal technologies that will help in transforming the existing coal fire plants into green power plants in the country. The synergy is not confined to India but will also cooperate to establish solar power projects in Africa also.

Hydrogen is being viewed by the policy makers and industry as the most potent alternative to fossil fuels that could expedite the decarbonisation of economies.

Green hydrogen is manufactured by employing water electrolysis that uses renewable energy in the process. The National Hydrogen Mission was announced in August this year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi charting a hydrogen roadmap forIndia.

Vineet Goyal, CEO, Steinbeis Centre for Technology Transfer India, said, “Steinbeis is taking a significant step towards Green Hydrogen economy in India. It is definitely a catalyst to clean energy in india and is in line with the, vision of the government. Inaddition to the MoU between Steinbeis, Waaree Energies and DSE Consortium, Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited (MAHAPREIT), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MPBCDC (Mahatma Phule Backward Class Development Corporation) is also going to enter in MoU with Steinbeis Centre for Technology Transfer India as Knowledge Partner to MAHAPREIT to establish Green Energy Industrial Estate Especially Green Hydrogen, Energy Storage etc. in the State of Maharashtra.” He said that Steinbeis is also in discussion with Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) to support in establishing R&D, commercialisation, skill building and training centre for green hydrogen in India.

Dr Bertram Lohmueller, Director, Steinbeis GmbH Germany, and DSE Green Consortium, Germany, said, “As a storage medium for renewable energies, as fuel for zero-emission fuel cell vehicles and as a base fuel for the industry, it is an important asset to bring about energy and transport transformation. Through this agreement, Steinbeis, Waaree and DSE will combine their strengths and collaborate to further advance the technology development of hydrogen electrolysers in India.”
