Tyczka Hydrogen GmbH will build and operate a public filling station for green hydrogen at the Augsburg freight center (GVZ). From the beginning of 2024, hydrogen will be available at this innovative filling station in the pressure ratings 350 and 700 bar. The filling station will be able to serve commercial vehicles, buses and cars.

In Munich, Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger presented the funding notice for the construction of a hydrogen refuelling station at the Augsburg freight center (GVZ) to representatives of Tyczka Hydrogen GmbH.

With the help of this funding notice from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Technology, refuelling with green hydrogen will also be possible at the Augsburg freight center (GVZ) in the future. In cooperation with the companies BayWa and Kloiber, an existing refuelling station will be developed into a multi-energy site. The current supply of commercial vehicles with LNG, LPG and diesel fuel will be expanded with green hydrogen.

The hydrogen refuelling station will be integrated in an existing BayWa LNG filling station and operated by Tyczka Hydrogen. Customers can refuel with green hydrogen – part of which will be supplied by the new production site of Hy2B Wasserstoff GmbH in Pfeffenhausen (Lower Bavaria), in which Tyczka Hydrogen is involved as a strategic investor. The filling station will be supplied by Tyczka’s own hydrogen trailers.

As part of the joint project development of Hy2B Wasserstoff GmbH, both co-partners BayWa and Tyczka Hydrogen held discussions regarding the construction of a filling station site for heavy-duty transport on the main traffic route in expansion to the hydrogen region HyBayern. The Augsburg freight center is not only ideally suited with its good accessibility to long-distance transport, but also due to the proximity of many interested parties from the area of logistics, vehicle development and regional bus services. Kloiber Logistik as lessor of the filling station site is completing the group of Bavarian partners.

Thomas Zorn – Managing Director of Tyczka Hydrogen – emphasises: “Our focus is on pooling and scaling our activities in the dynamic hydrogen market. The goal is to supply the different customer segments in mobility, industry and R&D efficiently and safely with green hydrogen from regional sources. With the filling station at the Augsburg freight center (GVZ), we are establishing an additional reference for the energy transition in mobility with hydrogen. At the same time, we are supporting the introduction and market launch of climate-friendly commercial vehicles and boosting the attractiveness of the Augsburg freight center (GVZ) location for logistic companies.”
