2. What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

When you subscribe with us, we’ll ask you to provide an email address. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:

• Send you information about your account and subscriptions. This may include payment receipts, password reset emails, and payment reminders.
• Create your membership or subscription account

a. Comments

We use the Disqus service in order to allow visitors to comment on our content. When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and any information collected by the Disqus service in order to help prevent SPAM. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our Akismet anti-spam service. The information we collect depends on how the User sets up Akismet for the Site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

b. Media

If at any point in time you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website may be able to download and extract any location data from images on the website.

c. Contact Forms

We ask for minimal personal information on any contact forms on the site. Our contact forms do not store any personal data when used. We will receive an email with any information you provided when filling out the contact form.

d. Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

e. Memberships, Subscriptions, or Purchases

We collect information about you during the signup process as well as some basic activities such as the dates you make purchases, login to the site, or cancel/pause/resume your memberships, subscriptions, and/or purchases with us.

f. Payments

We accept payments through Stripe. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to Stripe, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information.

g. Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

h. Analytics

i. Security Logs

The IP address of visitors, user ID of logged in users, and username of login attempts are conditionally logged to check for malicious activity and to protect the site from specific kinds of attacks. Examples of conditions when logging occurs include login attempts, log out requests, requests for suspicious URLs, changes to site content, and password updates. This information is retained for 60 days.

j. Who We Share Your Data With

If you chose to opt-in to our mailing list when purchasing a membership, your email and name will be shared with MailChimp only for the purpose of communicating membership updates, newsletters, and new offerings with you. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the any email received.

When running Security Check, ithemes.com will be contacted as part of a process to determine if the site supports TLS/SSL requests. No personal data is sent to ithemes.com as part of this process. k. How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username).

We store information about you for as long as your account exists.

Security logs are retained for 60 days.

l. Who On Our Team Has Access

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, site Owner/Administrators can access:

• Order information such as your membership subscriptions, payment dates and amounts, and username / email address.

Any additional information added in your Member Profile can also be visible to the site Owner(s)/Administrator(s). Website Owner(s)/Administrator(s) can also see and edit that information for customer support purposes.

m. What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. n. Where We Send Your Data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service as well as processed by the Disqus service in accordance with their privacy policy.

Name and email, along with the amount of your purchase may be sent to MailChimp if you opt-in to our newsletter for product updates and offers.

o. Your Contact Information

We collect the minimum amount of data to process your orders and deliver emails to you such as receipts, order confirmations, and (if you join our newsletter) product updates and offers. This may include your name and email address.

We do not share your information with any 3rd parties except where necessary to fulfill your order or communicate with you via the newsletter. Those might include services like MailChimp and Stripe.


 

3. Additional Information

a. How We Protect Your Data

We start by collecting the minimum amount of data necessary to complete your order and communicate with you. We do not ask for addresses, phone numbers, or any other personally identifiable information. Your name and email address are stored in a password protected database.

Your password is also hashed/encrypted before being stored in the database. We never send passwords in plain text via emails.

The web server is secured and kept up to date with the latest security and package updates.

We never store any payment information. That information is kept securely on PayPal or Stripe’s servers.

Your information is not shared with any other 3rd parties not already mentioned above.

b. Data Breach Procedures We Have in Place

Should a data breach occur, we will email all affected users as soon as possible to notify them what data may have been compromised and recommend that the account passwords be updated, or the account removed if no longer using it.

c. What Automated Decision Making and/or Profiling We Do with User Data

We do not currently use personal user data in decision making or profiling.
