The acronym ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance ) is used in the economic/financial sphere to indicate all those activities related to responsible investment which pursue the typical objectives of financial management taking into consideration aspects of an environmental, social and governance nature.

The commitment to sustainability and the Ferroli ESG plan

The Ferroli ESG 2022 plan , developed and validated with the consultancy of Roland Berger, required an in-depth analysis and redesign of numerous activities and sectors and will make it possible to achieve very strong reductions in CO ₂ emissions in the markets in which we operate. The plan, in particular, will make it possible to reduce CO ₂ emissions by 25% in 2024 and by 50% in 2030 , albeit with an increase in production and product sales. The emission reduction plan corresponds to savings of: · 4,900 tons of CO ₂ by 2024 additional 4,900 tons by 2030 · for a total of 9,800 tons of CO ₂ saved Also significant is the impact of the change in the product mix on offer, which translates into a drop in specific emissions from a value of 0.050 tonnes of CO ₂ for every euro invoiced to a value of 0.028 tonnes of CO ₂ for every euro invoiced per 2024. Furthermore, by 2024, water consumption in the group's Italian plants will be reduced by 36%.

The range of wall mounted boilers certified Hydrogen Ready

The entire range of Ferroli wall-mounted boilers is now certified Hydrogen Ready for mixtures of 20% green hydrogen. Furthermore, we are already part of the candidate list of 100% Hydrogen product suppliers for the largest Hydrogen Valley project to be built in Italy. We are completing the laboratory tests of the new 100% Hydrogen boilers and we are looking for an industrial partner in the world of gas distribution to launch the first field tests of this new generation of boilers also in Italy. Riccardo Garrè, CEO of Ferroli, has clear ideas on this point: "I have instructed my managers to look for an Italian project to demonstrate the excellence of our technology, which is not limited to the simple transition to 20% hydrogen blends, but which already offers the solution for use with 100% green hydrogen for the near future”.

The hybrid solution

Another area of innovation and development we are focused on is digitization and the evolution of intelligence on board heating generators . Thanks to the new advanced control systems, it is possible to integrate different energy vectors (gas, electricity) in the factory-made hybrid appliances . A technology that has aroused interest in the countries of Central and Northern Europe. The hybrid appliance allows the end customer to replace the old boiler with a heat pump and a very modern condensing boiler , which will work for a few days a year for heating, allowing the product 's CO ₂ emissions to be considerably reduced . This solution makes it possible to manage the new installation in a much shorter time, without long and awkward building and plant engineering works (necessary in the case of installing a full electric heat pump in existing buildings). The hybrid solution makes it possible to reduce bill amounts , since the electric vector for heating is disadvantaged over gas on the coldest days. In major renovations and new buildings, Ferroli pushes the full electric heat pump solution with conviction . Flag bearer of the electrification of thermal comfort, last September Ferroli was welcomed into the global SODE alliance (Strategic Open Dialogue on Electrification).

Ferroli products are sustainable

Last September, speaking in New York at a meeting of SODE, which was held during the Climate Week organized by the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership (GSEP), the CEO Ferroli Ricard Garrè underlined that "it is necessary for our politicians to realize that the European Green Deal is not just any objective written on paper, but a very serious political commitment. And that they implement decisive actions for the reform of the European energy market, in all the various aspects: supply (of the part of fossil fuels that will still be needed for a long time), generation, storage and above all transmission and distribution”. On June 21st we officially inaugurated the new Research & Development Center , created to create efficient and ecological systems and project the thermal comfort multinational into the future. A future that will see increasingly sustainable products, heat pumps with natural refrigerants , with virtually zero environmental impact, and hydrogen heating systems. Ferroli's historical expertise in innovation applied to the heating and comfort sector, historically starting from the development of natural gas as a substitute for diesel, has made it possible to equip the new laboratory for experimentation and development of new energy vectors of the future, that is, renewable gases, especially pure and blended hydrogen in various forms. The total weight of eco-compatible renewable energy products , as a percentage of the Group's overall turnover, went from 17.5% in 2020 to 22.5% in 2021 and to over 35% in 2022 , with electrical products which practically broke through the 50% stake.
