The agglomeration of Auxerre has chosen renewable energies for clean mobility in its territory.

The community chose Hynamics, a subsidiary of the EDF group specializing in hydrogen, for the installation of a green hydrogen production station by electrolysis. This station will guarantee the hydrogen buses of the Leo urban transport network, operated by Transdev Auxerrois, a continuous supply of green hydrogen from 2021. This project, which participates in the creation of a territorial ecosystem aimed at decarbonizing uses, received the support from ADEME (Agence de la Transition Écologique) and the European JIVE 2 program (Joint Initiative for hydrogen Vehicles across Europe). Hydrogen produced by electrolysis of water is a highly concentrated energy source which only releases water (neither CO ₂ nor particles) and produces no noise pollution. It is for these reasons that the Agglomeration Community of Auxerrois has chosen this technology in order to decarbonize, in particular, its transport network and its fleet of vehicles. This new ambition was first realized in December 2019 with the order for five units of the Businova H2 (SAFRA hydrogen bus equipped with Symbio batteries) which will be operated by Transdev Auxerrois, mainly on line 1 of the Leo network. To supply them, the community has opted for local production of green hydrogen and short-circuit distribution. Hynamics, via its project company CP3, will install a water electrolysis production station on avenue de la Turgotine, on a former industrial wasteland, in the immediate vicinity of the Transdev Auxerrois bus depot, Auxerre-Saint station -Gervais and close to the A6 motorway, a major road link linking Paris to Lyon. Benefiting from the best safety equipment, this station will supply, from autumn 2021, the first five hydrogen buses operated by Transdev Auxerrois as well as other light commercial vehicles. Ultimately, the ambition is to expand the production and reception capacities of these facilities while strengthening their multimodal nature in order to be able to respond as best as possible to the emergence and development of uses: additional hydrogen buses, utility vehicles , trucks, rail, river and industrial. This project is more broadly part of the creation of a large-scale territorial hydrogen ecosystem desired by the Auxerrois agglomeration community. The objective: to establish strong partnerships between the territory of Auxerrois, under the aegis of the agglomeration, and industry and mobility players in order to bring about new hydrogen projects. To this end, some sixty business leaders met on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 to collectively imagine the future uses of the station.
