Opel will soon launch the Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN in Austria. The Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN is a pioneering light commercial vehicle that combines advanced hydrogen fuel cell technology with plug-in hybrid technology, offering the proven practicality and reliability of Opel's commercial vehicle models. This new model underlines Opel's commitment to environmentally friendly and innovative mobility solutions. We will open orders in the second quarter and thus expand our range of commercial vehicles. In addition to the classic engines, all of our commercial vehicles are already available as 100 percent electric models. With the Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN, we are now offering our customers another innovative and environmentally friendly drive technology with zero local CO2 emissions.” Efficiency and environmental friendliness without compromise The Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN is specially designed for companies that require high efficiency and environmental sustainability without compromising on performance. With a range of more than 400 kilometers according to WLTP1 and the ability to fully fill the hydrogen tank in just three to five minutes, the Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN offers an exceptional solution for demanding logistics requirements. Emission-free and powerful The Vivaro-e HYDROGEN combines the advantages of a zero-emission vehicle with the requirements of a commercial vehicle. It only emits water vapor, reducing the carbon footprint and helping companies achieve their environmental goals. At the same time, it delivers the performance and reliability that you can expect from an Opel Vivaro. The Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN combines the advantages of hydrogen fuel cell technology with additional plug-in lithium-ion battery technology. The principle of the Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN is simple: the fuel cell uses hydrogen and air to generate electricity to drive the electric motor. The only product of this reaction is pure water vapor that comes out of the exhaust. So it is an electric vehicle with zero emissions. With the plug-in fuel cell concept of the Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN, the entire fuel cell system is located under the hood. The three 700 bar hydrogen tanks, which hold five kilograms of H2, are located in the underbody of the vehicle. The 45 kW fuel cell of the Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN delivers enough power for longer journeys. The 10.5 kWh lithium-ion battery located under the front seats provides support when starting or accelerating as well as at top speed to cover peak loads. This means the fuel cell system always works under optimal operating conditions, which increases its service life. In addition, the Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN offers the great advantage of a hybrid system: braking energy can be recovered and fed into the battery as electricity via the electric motor (generator) (recuperation). And thanks to the plug-in option, the battery can also be charged externally if necessary, so that the vehicle can travel up to 50 kilometers purely on battery power. The Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN has a three-phase onboard charger (11 kW) as standard. The entire drive technology is housed in such a space-saving manner that the Opel Vivaro HYDROGEN makes no compromises in terms of space compared to conventional commercial vehicles with combustion engines. It also offers a load space of up to 5.3 cubic meters (size M) or 6.1 cubic meters (size L), which is just as large as the diesel or battery-electric Vivaro variants. The payload is up to 1,000 kilograms. The hydrogen fuel cell transporter can be loaded practically from any side - from the rear or via the side sliding doors. In addition, the Opel Vivaro-HYDROGEN - just like its battery-electric and combustion engine counterparts - offers state-of-the-art driver assistance systems and comfort at a passenger car level. The standard features include the 180-degree panoramic reversing camera, blind spot warning and parking pilot for the front and rear. The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible Multimedia Navi Pro infotainment can be conveniently operated via voice recognition or the color touchscreen. Navigation with a road map for Europe provides dynamic route guidance and TMC messages. With the Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN, Opel is committed to sustainable electromobility, as the use of hydrogen technology does not produce harmful CO2 emissions. This helps reduce the carbon footprint and supports the goal of environmentally friendly mobility.
