The Hydrogen Council is pleased to welcome Hyundai Motor Group Executive Vice Chairman Euisun Chung as its new co-chair. Mr. Chung will join incumbent co-chair Benoît Potier, Chairman and CEO of Air Liquide, to lead the Council through 2019. The Council also wishes to thank former Co-chair Woong-chul Yang for his leadership and commitment over the last year.

• The Spanish Hydrogen Association and the Spanish Confederation of Service Station Businessmen sign a collaboration agreement to cooperate in the organization and development of activities and research in the field of energy, sustainable mobility and the use of hydrogen in transport.

• The Faculty of Engineering this week took delivery of a Toyota Mirai, the world’s leading hydrogen fuel cell car.

The car, which has been acquired with support from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), Hydrogen Mobility Europe (H2 ME) and the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCHJU), will help support research into the potential of hydrogen as a future source of clean and sustainable energy.

The solar researchers of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) will in the future be driving on the road with hydrogen propulsion. This is made possible by a new Toyota Mirai with fuel cell technology. The place of handover of the vehicle from Toyota Deutschland to the DLR Institute for Solar Research was the Synlight facility. In the world’s largest facility for experiments with artificial sunlight, the institute develops and tests processes for the production of hydrogen from solar energy and water.
