Saarbrücken/Völklingen. When the “HydroHub Fenne”, the hydrogen project of energy company STEAG in Völklingen-Fenne, produces green, climate-neutral hydrogen from 2026 onwards, a regional customer, the public transport company Saarbahn, will already be ready to use it for the benefit of the climate. With an annual production of up to 8,700 metric tons of hydrogen, STEAG can then provide important support for the gradual decarbonization of public transport in the Saarbrücken metropolitan region.

The project was made possible by a unique, cross-sector cooperation between SAK (St.Gallisch-Appenzellische Kraftwerke AG), the Osterwalder Group and SN Erneuerbare Energie AG (SNEE), who are combining their strength and know-how in the joint venture Hydrogen Production Ostschweiz AG ( WPO) bundle. Together with St. Gallen Vice-President Marc Mächler and Susanne Hartmann, member of the government and head of the Canton of St.Gallen Construction Department, those involved in the official commissioning underlined the importance of green hydrogen for the energy transition, for future electromobility and for the Canton of St. gall.

Metacon, in cooperation with its distribution and EPC partner Hydroholding, has entered into a new contract for supplying an additional Hydrogen Refuelling Station (HRS) unit in Slovakia. This follows the delivery of the first micro-HRS unit ordered earlier in the year. The contract value is 2,1 MSEK at the current EUR-SEK exchange rate.
