Yesterday marked the groundbreaking for Hynion’s hydrogen refueling station in Jönköping. This station is part of Hynion’s initiative to develop a new generation of hydrogen refueling stations with a capacity of 1500 kg of hydrogen per day. The station is designed for heavy vehicles, but passenger cars will also be able to refuel here, and it is expected to be completed in September this year.

Hynion previously announced that they have been granted a subsidy of 61.4 million SEK from the Swedish Energy Agency to build two hydrogen refueling stations. The first station is already under construction in Västerås, and now the construction begins of the station in Jönköping, located in Torsvik, which is a part of the strategically important logistics LogPoint South Sweden, situated by the E4 south of the city.

”We are pleased to finally start the construction of our hydrogen refueling station in Jönköping. This project is an important step towards a fossil-free future, and we are grateful for the support from the Jönköping municipality”, says Slavica Djuric, CEO of Hynion Sverige AB.

“We are delighted that the construction of a hydrogen refueling station in our municipality has begun. This is an important step in our sustainability program to reduce emissions from the transport sector. The station’s location along the E4 highway strengthens our position as a logistics center and contributes to a more sustainable future. We look forward to the opening in September and thank all involved parties for their dedication”, says Anne-Marie Nilsson, chairman of the Jönköping municipal board.

“It is great that we can now kick off this construction project as well. We have made significant progress in Västerås and can therefore place a greater focus on Jönköping. In this project too, Premac is responsible for the groundwork and many other aspects before the technical equipment is installed”, says Torgny Eriksson, project manager for the station and product manager in Hynion Sverige AB.

LogPoint South Sweden of 700 ha is Sweden’s fastest-growing logistics area, strategically located by the E4 highway, between the Scandinavian capitals and close to the continent. Several major companies, such as IKEA, Elgiganten, PostNord, DSV, DHL, UPS och Bring have established warehouses here. About 4,000 trucks unload and load in the area every day. Hynion’s hydrogen refueling station will be built in the southern part of the logistics area, neighboring two truck stops.
