Leipzig. BMW Group Plant Leipzig is the first car plant in the world to pilot a newly developed burner technology that allows to run on green hydrogen as well as natural gas. The new technology meets the feasibility requirements to reduce CO2 emissions from the intensive use of natural gas, a fossil fuel.
“We are in the hydrogen century,” Armin Fuerderer, director of hydrogen solutions at Rolls-Royce Power Systems, told The Times recently.
Air Liquide, CaetanoBus and Toyota Motor Europe have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the aim of developing integrated hydrogen solutions. Australian HFCV procurement specialist HDrive has announced it has entered an agreement with industry leaders Pure Hydrogen and Wisdom Motors for the manufacture, distribution, sales and procurement of up to 12,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles over five years.
