Gas distributor Northern Gas Networks (NGN) has partnered with clean energy pioneers Hygen Energy Holdings (Hygen) and Ryze Hydrogen to work on an ambitious low carbon hydrogen production and dispensing facility in the heart of Bradford.

Powerhouse Energy Group Plc (AIM: PHE), a company pioneering integrated technology that converts non-recyclable waste into low carbon energy, is pleased to report research funding granted to The University of Manchester in the development and validation of a novel, cost effective and potentially game-changing hydrogen separation technique that extracts hydrogen from synthesis gas (“syngas”) produced by PHE’s DMGâ process.

On November 7, the Land and Environmental Court in Östersund approved and gave Ovako in Hofors the environmental permit to construct Sweden’s largest electrolyzer for production of fossil-free hydrogen*. An important and long-awaited announcement, which will enable a significant reduction in CO2 emissions from the heating of steel. With this gratifying decision, the hydrogen plant will be in operation before the summer of 2023.

• Calls mount for faster deployment of hydrogen technology

The energy crisis has increased pressure on governments, industry and researchers to deliver clean, affordable power to ensure Europe’s competitiveness and quality of life. As a result, several speakers at this year’s edition of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership Forum and its Hydrogen Research Days, part of European Hydrogen Week, have called for a faster rollout of hydrogen technology for transport, homes, businesses and industry.
