The two companies sign Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to make green hydrogen a financially feasible option for customers across industries

• The Hyundai NEXO fuel cell electric vehicle will be voted “Alternative Car of the Year” at the GQ Car Awards 2021
• The British GQ praises Hyundai “for the courageous way in a direction that so far only a few car manufacturers are going” and confirms that hydrogen “is an efficient and practical form for alternative drives”
• The 100% electrically powered Hyundai NEXO is currently available on the market, with around 5 minutes of refueling time and an electric range of 666 kilometers (WLTP)

• The partners have completed the purchase from Hydrogenics of an electrolyser that can produce 330 tons of green hydrogen per year
• IDAE and Cemex are also partners in the electrolysis project, which will feed the island’s renewable hydrogen ecosystem
• Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2021 and the plant is expected to be operational by the end of the year

ACCIONA and Enagás are moving forward with the Power to Green Hydrogen Mallorca industrial project, having acquired an electrolyser, the key component of the electrolysis plant that the partners plan to build and operate in order to produce renewable hydrogen to feed a pilot hydrogen ecosystem on the island of Mallorca.

From pilot project to industry standard

Hydrogen is increasingly being used as a sustainable energy source, including in the intralogistics industry.

• The board of FNM, Lombardy’s leading public transport group, approves major investment in green railway transportation  

Alstom will supply six hydrogen fuel cell trains, with the option for eight more, to FNM (Ferrovie Nord Milano), the main transport and mobility group in the Italian region of Lombardy, for a total amount of approximately €160 million. The first train delivery is expected within 36 months of the date of the order.

• Hyundai and INEOS signed a memorandum of understanding to explore together new opportunities in the hydrogen economy
• Opportunities include production and supply of hydrogen as well as new hydrogen applications, technologies, and business models
• The two companies will also work together to explore the use of the Hyundai fuel cell system in the INEOS Grenadier vehicle

SEOUL / LONDON – Hyundai Motor Company and INEOS announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding to explore new opportunities to accelerate the global hydrogen economy.
