Throwback Thursday

In this weeks Throwback Thursday story we go back to November 3, 2022, when TECO 2030, Shell, and their partners received an invitation for a Horizon Europe funding of EUR 5 million. This funding was intended to support the realization of the HyEkoTank project, a hydrogen-powered tanker concept.

In today’s Throwback Thursday feature, we look back at early 2023 when KION Group pioneered in the fuel cell technology space. They embarked on not only integrating but developing and producing their own fuel cell systems for their industrial trucks. This move signaled a shift in the industry, showcasing KION’s commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and reducing their carbon footprint.

• CMB.TECH & Port of Antwerp-Bruges welcome Hydrotug to Belgium

Recently, the Hydrotug arrived in the port of Ostend. Here, the first hydrogen-powered tugboat will be further finished with the hydrogen system. Ostend was chosen because the tug can use the hydrogen bunkering facilities of CMB.TECH’s Hydrocat 48 there.

Watertaxi Rotterdam has expanded its fleet with a hydrogen water taxi. It is the first ship in Europe’s largest port to run on this sustainable energy.

• The world’s largest inland port will become climate neutral with our hydrogen technology.

With the help of the European IPCEI Hy2Tech program (approved by the European Commission last July ), Isotta Fraschini Motori (IFM), a historic company in the production of propulsion systems that is part of the Fincantieri group, will be able to develop two types of hydrogen-powered marine engines as part of the IFUTURE project.
