Plans by Egypt’s government and other governments in the region to make northern Africa and the Middle East (MENA) a major exporter of green hydrogen raise hopes within the German industry to find a reliable long-term replacement for fossil gas from Russia, business weekly WirtschaftsWoche reported.
ABC Cleantech and the Government of Karnataka have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of a 5 GW green hydrogen and ammonia plant worth $6 billion.
Tokyo – Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), and PT. PLN Indonesia Power, a sub-holding of Indonesia’s state-owned electricity provider PT. ATLANTA — Georgia Power is furthering its commitment to build the energy grid of the future and reduce carbon emissions across its generation fleet through a newly formed coalition of major utility companies across the Southeast, announced today, working to secure federal financial support for a Southeast Hydrogen Hub. The coalition, including Georgia Power’s parent Southern Company, will respond to the recently announced funding opportunity from the U.S. Department of Energy, which includes $8 billion for regional hydrogen hubs and is part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
Seawater, which comprises more than 95% of the Earth’s water, could become a key resource in the sustainable production of clean hydrogen fuel with use of water-splitting catalysts developed by a KAUST-led team.
Close sources said that the project consists of a green ammonia unit with initial features that were agreed upon between Qatar Energy and Egypt’s Sovereign Fund on the side-lines of the Egyptian delegation’s visit to Qatar last month, and it is expected that the injection of investments will start during the coming period
CAIRO – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi emphasized the need to keep strengthening efforts in cooperation with international expertise in green hydrogen energy generation using renewable energy, in line with the national strategy in this regard, taking into consideration the growing global interest in green hydrogen projects as a promising source of energy in the future.
