As the potential of hydrogen in addressing global emissions and debate about what can be done to move from commitments to action are a key part of the narrative at COP this week, OCI has demonstrated throughout 2023 its focus on action with a number of world-first collaborations and projects. On joining the CTC, Mr El-Hoshy said:

‘Action on the energy transition can’t happen in a vacuum, and initiatives like BloombergNEF’s Climate Technology Coalition are crucial in bringing together the industry leaders capable of driving that action. In joining the coalition, I look forward to working alongside other pioneers to capture the opportunity we have in front of us to realize the decarbonization potential of hydrogen and its derivatives, including methanol and ammonia, and to move the entire value chain and all stakeholders beyond commitments and to make real change.’

The Climate Tech Coalition is an assembly of world-leading experts, innovators, and influencers dedicated to scaling the next generation of green technologies crucial for addressing the climate crisis.

Ahmed’s joining of the coalition is the latest recognition of OCI’s leadership in the industry after the recent Bloomberg NEF report titled “Scaling Up Hydrogen: The Case For Low-Carbon Ammonia highlighted OCI’s significant strides, including groundbreaking partnerships with key players across the agricultural sector like Simpsons Malt Limited, Dossche Mills, Agravis Raiffeisen, and in the industrial sector, Lotte Fine Chemical.

More recently, OCI also announced deliveries of renewable and low carbon ammonia to Unilever Hindustan and Rohm.
