Paris, France– Supported by the Burgundy-Franche-Comté Region, the Industrial Revitalisation Fund, the ISTHY project initiated by Rougeot Energie, now taken over by Inthy, a producer of renewable energy and hydrogen and supplier of low-carbon mobility solutions, will be able to be implemented thanks to the partnership between Inthy and Bureau Veritas. Ultimately, ISTHY will be the first test site dedicated to hydrogen storage technologies in Europe.

While hydrogen is a key fuel for mobility and the sustainable industry, hydrogen storage safety is now a major challenge. One of the requirements for the use of Hydrogen is the introduction of tests to limit the risks. ISTHY, which is part of the State’s Future Investment Programme (PIA), will be unique in Europe. It will meet regulatory marketing requirements and support future industrial success stories.
Installations capable of carrying out development or certification tests are very limited. ISTHY will thus make it possible to carry out the tests of development, manufacture and ensure the certification of large tanks of up to 1,400 litres for mobility.

  • David CARLE, Managing Director of Bureau Veritas Exploitation, said: “We are delighted with this partnership. The project is unique in Europe in its scale. Thanks to him, Bureau Veritas is actively involved in the development of hydrogen in Europe. A member of the Hydrogen Council, Bureau Veritas has just created a Centre of Excellence dedicated to Hydrogen and Derivatives. This additional initiative demonstrates our commitment to supporting responsible progress in our clients and building a world of trust. ”
  • Dominique DARNE, President of Inthy: “The protocol concerning the construction and operation of the ISTHY test centre that we signed with Bureau Veritas confirms our commitment to develop the project for several years with the support of the Region and the Industrial Revitalisation Fund and beyond the maturation of hydrogen mobility in France, Europe and more generally in the world. Our association will enable France to have a unique testing and certification tool that is key for the hydrogen-using road, maritime and rail mobility industry. ”
  • Marie-Guite Dufay, President of the Burgundy-Franche-Comté Region: “The entry of Bureau Veritas into the ISTHY project alongside Inthy is excellent news, which marks the launch of the ISTHY project, the European Referencing Centre essential for our industrialists, and will strengthen our region as a hydrogen stronghold in France. ”
