NTE’s Kråkøya Plant in Norway Successfully Produces its First Green Hydrogen

Nord-Trøndelag Elektrisitetsverk (NTE), a leading Norwegian energy company, is thrilled to announce the inaugural production of green hydrogen at its Kråkøya facility located in Nærøysund municipality.

As the first hydrogen production, storage, and bunkering facility for ships in Norway, this represents a significant step forward for zero emissions in the maritime sector.

Celebrating this achievement, NTE expressed, “Our ambition at NTE is to create a climate-neutral society, where our hydrogen commitment plays a crucial role in realizing this vision. This is the first plant in what NTE plans to be a larger network of hydrogen plants in Norway.”

NTE, a major entity in Norway’s energy sector, encompasses a wide range of activities including power production, distribution, and various services in broadband, engineering, and more. With a commitment to innovation and sustainability, NTE operates with the support of Nord-Trøndelag County Municipality, employing around 1,000 individuals and generating an annual turnover of approximately NOK 3 billion.

The Kråkøya plant stands as Norway’s pioneer in hydrogen production, storage, and bunkering facilities for ships, setting a precedent for environmental sustainability in the maritime industry.
