On Friday, Oracle Power announced its participation in the Dii Desert Energy organization as an associate partner.

The Cambridge-based power and natural resource project developer will be focused on contributing to Dii’s MENA Hydrogen Alliance. This alliance brings together companies, scientific institutions, and academic bodies to create local hydrogen economies in the Middle East and North Africa. The initiative also seeks to explore opportunities for export revenue, substituting fossil fuels and utilizing existing infrastructure such as gas pipelines.

Dii Desert Energy is an international network that aims to harness emission-free energy from desert areas in the Middle East and North Africa. Its members include Shell, EDF, Siemens Energy, thyssenkrupp and E.ON.

Oracle Power’s strategy is to leverage its membership of Dii to accelerate the commercialization of its green hydrogen project in Pakistan. The project is expected to produce 55,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year once construction is completed. The move is another step towards creating a more sustainable energy system, and an example of the growing interest in green hydrogen as a clean energy source.
