Berlin– The winners of the Hystarter competition have been announced. Nine regions in Germany are being supported to develop a local network and to develop a hydrogen concept for the region.

Platinum has long been used as a catalyst to enable the oxidation reduction reaction at the center of fuel cell technology. But the metal’s high cost is one factor that has hindered fuel cells from competing with cheaper ways of powering automobiles and homes.
Now researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have developed a new platinum-based catalytic system that is far more durable than traditional commercial systems and has a potentially longer lifespan. The new system could, over the long term, reduce the cost of producing fuel cells.
The ground breaking ceremony of AGROLA’s first hydrogen filling station was held on 2 September 2019 in Zofingen (AG). The construction of the service station is financed by LANDI Sursee (as an investor) and LANDI Zofingen (as operator of the service station). The opening of the new facility is scheduled for spring 2020.

A $5 million study into a hydrogen electrolysis plant at Stanwell Power Station near Rockhampton is underway. The study will assess the technical, commercial and strategic feasibility of a large (10 MW or bigger) hydrogen demonstration plant which will be the largest plant of its type in Australia.
