Exolum to Undertake World-First Project to Demonstrate the Bulk Transport and Storage of Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHCs) in Repurposed Infrastructure

  • The company has launched a demonstration project at its Immingham terminal (UK) that has secured more than half a million pounds in grant  funding from the UK Government  
  • Exolum will physically transport and store commercial-scale volumes of hydrogen, in a liquid form as LOHCs, in its existing pipeline and tank storage infrastructure, and carry out testing to confirm its compatibility.
  • The project will unlock the wider roll-out across Exolum’s network, offering a vital bulk hydrogen storage and logistics service to the hydrogen sector ahead of alternative options.

3M and HD Hyundai KSOE to Collaborate on Joint Research Project to Help Insulate Liquid Hydrogen Storage Tanks

PAUL, Minn— 3M and HD Hyundai Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (KSOE) have signed a joint research project agreement to develop large liquid hydrogen storage tanks using Glass Bubbles from 3M – a high-strength, low-density hollow glass microsphere. The collaborative research will focus on developing a high-performance vacuum insulation system for liquified hydrogen storage and transportation.
